RESIDENCY QUESTIONS

What is the difference between the International Artist Residency and the Canadian Artist Residency?
The International Artist Residency is open to artists from anywhere in the world. The Canadian Artist Residency is only for Canadians; this residency is generously supported by the David R. Graham Foundation to promote intercultural exchange between Canada and France.

How many residencies are there per year?
We host the International Artist Residency and the Canadian Artist residency two times per year; spring and fall. The CASA CINE residency is hosted once per year in May. To see specific dates, please review the application details at lnaf.slideroom.com. Applications for spring residencies typically open in late March or early April with an early September deadline. Applications for autumn residencies typically open in late September or early October with an early March deadline.

Do you provide a stipend?
LNAF provides a stipend for residency. Residents are free to use the stipend as they best see fit (for example, it can be used to cover airfare and travel expenses, materials and supplies, etc.).

If I am selected, is there a fee to attend residency?
No, LNAF does not charge residents to attend. Residents must organize their own travel to and from the residency. We provide residents with a private room and bathroom, and studio space. We also provide breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday.

What types of artists can apply?
LNAF accepts artists of any creative discipline. This includes, but is not limited to: visual arts, music, writing (fiction and nonfiction), filmmaking, performance, dance.

SELECTION PROCESS QUESTIONS

What is the selection timeline?
Depending on the number of applications received, it takes the Selection Committee anywhere from 4-8 weeks to make selections.

Will I be notified of my results?
Yes, every single applicant receives an email with the status of their application. Please add emails from SlideRoom to your accepted sender list to ensure they land in your inbox and not spam or promotions folders.

If I am not selected for residency, can I apply again?
We advise applicants who are not accepted to wait at least one calendar year before reapplying.

If I am not selected for residency, can you provide feedback on my application?
Due to the high volume of applications and the number of requests, we cannot provide individual application feedback.
