As part of Cynthia Imogen Hammond’s exhibition Les Jardins de Marie – Kingdoms within kingdoms, the Château de La Napoule presents a sensory and poetic workshop in the heart of its gardens, during the Fête du Mimosa.
Workshop – Sensing the Garden: a poetic and sensory exploration
An immersive workshop in the Château de La Napoule gardens, led by writer and artist Stéphanie Filion in collaboration with Cynthia Imogen Hammond.
Sensing the Garden invites participants to immerse themselves in the scents that shape the sensory identity of the La Napoule garden, warmed by the February sun. Carried by the wind, the aromas of plants, earth and sea become subtle pathways for exploring the site in a different way.
In resonance with Cynthia Imogen Hammond’s exhibition, the workshop encourages attention to the garden’s olfactory dimension—often invisible, yet deeply evocative. The walk continues with the creation of a small scent map, capturing the fragrant essence of the place, followed by simple writing exercises that give words to the perceptions gathered. The workshop concludes with a shared moment, accompanied by a tasting of a beverage and treats inspired by the garden and the Fête du Mimosa.
