As part of Cynthia Imogen Hammond’s exhibition Les Jardins de Marie – Kingdoms within kingdoms, the Château de La Napoule invites you to a sensory and poetic workshop in the heart of its gardens, during the Fête du Mimosa.

Workshop (registration required) – Listening to the Garden: a sonic and poetic exploration

An immersive workshop in the Château de La Napoule gardens, led by writer and artist Stéphanie Filion in collaboration with Cynthia Imogen Hammond.

Listening to the Garden invites participants to wander through the gardens while paying close attention to the sounds that move through them: the rustle of wind, the murmur of fountains, birdsong, the subtle vibrations of plants, and the nearby presence of the sea.

In resonance with Cynthia Imogen Hammond’s exhibition, the workshop also invites participants to imagine how the garden might have “breathed” in Marie Clews’s time, through sounds that seem to travel across the years. Using small scientific instruments that reveal the plants’ subtle music, this sensory exploration continues with a guided poetic writing session, transforming what is perceived into short fragments to share.
