Northern New England and Provence: each is famous for its light and topography that have attracted some of the world’s greatest artists to its shores. With offices in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and a Chateau on the Riviera, La Napoule Art Foundation is in a unique position to link the two.
This fall, the Foundation has invited eight artists from Maine and New Hampshire to participate in a four-week residency at Chateau de La Napoule. Following the October residency, work by the artists, highlighting what they created at La Napoule, will be the subject of an exhibition in either Portsmouth, NH or Portland, ME, and possibly in France.
“As an incubator of new ideas, residencies with the right artists can provide the opportunity to share space and time together that is available nowhere else. What happens over weeks of encounters is profoundly significant and can make a major contribution to the world.”
